Information

The Winter Olympics were held across three locations in Beijing and Hebei. Vehicles had to travel long distances in severe cold weather across maintaining ranges, which requires the capability to climb steep slopes with ample torque and power; with worldwide visibility, the systems must be highly reliable; in addition, guests from all over the world expected low noise and high comfort for a relaxing and pleasant ride.

JJE is one of the first companies in the world to develop and commercialize the two-speed transmission for electric drives. JJE EMAT electromagnetic shift two-speed transmission – first production in 2017 - is tailored for new energy commercial vehicles. It is especially suited for long-distance intercity and high-grade-ability applications for buses and trucks. Eliminating the need for shifting forks, gear sleeves, or synchronizers, the EMAT electromagnetic shift two-speed electric drive does not require the complicated high-maintenance shifting mechanisms found in traditional AMTs. There’s no spin loss as in the AT, either. Compared with the traditional four-speed powertrain, the two-speed EMAT reduces 2/3 of the required number of shifts, improves comfort, reduces weight, simplifies the structure, and reduces failures.

The Winter Olympics and Paralympics were timely showcases of JJE's Gen-1 EMAT two-speed electric drive. In 2022, JJE will launch the Gen-2 EMAT, with an upgraded faster-shifting electromagnetic shift clutch and a newly-designed drive motor.  Gen-2 will deliver a torque up to 6,500 Nm, surpassing Gen-1 applications by ~50%; the system weight will be reduced by ~20%; the power take-off option will be added.  It will successfully replace the traditional four-speed or six-speed transmission as a "One-System-Multi-Application" product, with the flexibility to equip pure electric, hybrid, or range-extended 10-12-meter buses, cargo trucks, and specialty vehicles below 18 tons. This powertrain will enable manufacturers to build more powerful, more reliable, more comfortable, lighter, more efficient, and more economical new energy commercial vehicles.

In addition, more than 200 electric light trucks equipped with the JJE 1000R single-stage reduction electric drive systems connected various venues and event support locations for the Winter Olympics. These drive systems powered the “green” cargo vehicle fleets throughout the Winter Olympics and Paralympics with zero failure.

With its high reliability and excellent quality, JJE has been highly recognized by customers and repeatedly named an excellent supplier by OEMs. This time, the vehicles powered by JJE drives accomplished "zero-failure" in the Winter Olympics, demonstrating the great quality in JJE again.
