As the leading company in electric drive technologies for new energy vehiclesalso as a gold sponsor of the 2022 World New Energy Vehicle Conference (hereinafter referred to as "WNEVC"), Jing-Jin Electric (JJE) launched the next-generation 300kW high-power silicon carbide (SiC) 3-in-1 EDM.  This new EDM will meet the needs of global high-end new energy vehicles for higher power, higher trafficability and extended driving ranges.

 

The 300kW high-power SiC EDM developed internally by JJE will be exported for use in European and American high-end, on highway vehicles as well as domestic high-end all-terrain off-road vehicles. The system adopts the third-generation power semiconductor SiC controller (achieving ASIL-D functional safety level), with high output power. The axle output mechanical power exceeds 300kW under 400VDC, and the 3-in-1 system has a power density greater than 2.5kW/kg. The EDM will also have high system efficiency of nearly 95% and lower (lower noise compared to what?) noise (WOT condition <75dB(A)), Production is scheduled to begin in September 2023.

The traction motor of the 3-in-1 EDM, with 8-layer hairpin winding, not only achieves continuous power of up to 150kW (even to 140kW at 18,000rpm), but can also meet the reliable lubrication and cooling requirements of high-end vehicles under extreme tilting conditions. With the advantage of JJE’s sophisticated noise and vibration reduction technologies, the 3-in-1 system achieves ultra-low noise emission performance.

 

According to the layout and functional requirements of the vehicle, the gearbox design of the system has two rotational direction variants, counterclockwise (forward installation) and clockwise (rearward installation). In order to realize emergency park lock safety protection, reduce drag loss during coasting, and improve vehicle trafficability through the bad road, the park lock system, disconnect clutch and differential locker are optional for this EDM.  At differential output stage, the modular design of JJE patented DirectFlux® eDisconnect, eLock or Combo (as shown in figure below) can be integrated standalone or in combination, which is a key enabler for all-weather, all-terrain or complex off road vehicles.

 

The differential locker DirectFlux® eLock independently developed by JJE is the first electromagnetic differential locker with Bi-stable function in the automotive industry. This bi-stable locker is self-holding with no power consumption and friction loss, ensuring even safer and more efficient locking, meeting the safe and reliable driving requirements of high-end all-weather, all-terrain vehicles.

 

The system performance is comprehensively outstanding. It not only further leads the industry in terms of motor, controller and gearbox technology, but also supports several premium auxiliary functions to meet the needs of specific scenarios such as high load, high off-road, and high safety. It has become the preferred solution for the next generation of RWD/AWD/4WD high-end new energy vehicles, especially for Class C~Class D Sedan, SUV, Off-road Vehicle and Pickup trucks. This EDM has already been selected by major automobile OEMs to drive their high-end models.
